چکیده

This paper presents the bit error rate (BER) upper bounds for trellis coded asymmetric 8PSK (TC-A8PSK) system using the Ka-band satellite in the rain fading environment. The probability density function (PDF) for the rain fading random variable can be theoretically derived by assuming that the rain attenuation can be approximated to a log-normal distribution and the rain fading parameters are calculated by using the rain precipitation data from the Crane global model. Furthermore, we analyze the BER upper bounds of TC-A8PSK system according to the number of states in the trellis diagram and the availability of channel state information (CSI). In the past, Divsalar and Simon [9] has analyzed the BER upper bounds of 2-state TCM system in Rician fading channels; however, this paper is the first to analyze the BER upper bounds of TCM system in the rain fading channels. Finally, we summarize the dominant six factors which are closely related to the BER upper bounds of TC-A8PSK satellite system in the rain fading channel as follows: (1) frequency band, (2) rain intensity, (3) elevation angle, (4) bit energy to noise ratio, (5) asymmetric angle, and (6) availability of CSI. key words: trellis coded asymmetric 8PSK (TC-A8PSK), rain

Turbo Trellis Coded Modulation with Iterative Decoding for Mobile Satellite Communications

In this paper, analytical bounds on the performance of parallel concatenation of two codes, known as turbo codes, and serial concatenation of two codes over fading channels are obtained. Based on this analysis, design criteria for the selection of component trellis codes for MPSK modulation, and a suitable bit-by-bit iterative decoding structure are proposed. Examples are given for throughput o...

Adaptive trellis-coded multiple-phase-shift keying for Rayleigh fading channels

An adaptive scheme for trellis-coded modulation of MPSK signals called adaptive trellis-coded multiple-phase-shift-keying (ATCMPSK) is proposed for slowly Rayleigh fading channels. The adaptive scheme employs a slightly modified rate 112 convolutional encoder and the corresponding Viterbi decoder to realize a family of codes of different rates which are employed according to channel conditions....

Bit-Error Bounds for Trellis-Coded MPSK in Mixed Fading Channels

Bit-error probability (BEP) bounds of trellis-coded MPSK systems over two classes of mixed fading channels are studied. These two classes of channels have been proposed as candidate models for mobile satellite communications. The first class consists of slow and frequency-nonselective fading channels whose output field strengths follow a probability law characterized by a convex combination of ...

Performance of Antenna Diversity with Turbo Trellis Coded Modulation Over Nakagami Channels

In this paper, we will use the Space Time Block codes for antenna diversity, and the performance of Space-Time – Turbo Trellis Coded Modulation (ST-TTCM) is investigated over Nakagami channels. For high data transmission over wireless fading channels, Space-Time Block Codes provide the maximal possible diversity advantage for multiple decoding algorithms. The effects of fading channel are consi...

An Improved PSK Scheme for Fading

| The performance of uncoded PSK schemes over fading channels is only inversely proportional to the signal-to-noise ratio, which is not very reliable for digital communication applications. Improving their performance has been approached by means of coded modulation schemes where code redundancy combined with interleaving introduces some degree of diversity that depends on the complexity of the...
